History of Kasten

The brand is named after Hjalmar Henrik Kasten, who founded the metal factory bearing his name in Helsinki in 1886. The first steel storage shelves were manufactured in 1951, when Helsinki began to prepare for the 1952 Summer Olympics with new equipment and storage facilities. The metal factory Hj. H. Kasten's shelving offer was accepted and this was the beginning of the production of Kasten small storage shelves, which are believed to have been the first domestic steel shelves in Finland.

The name of the company has changed several times over the years, but Kasten has remained the brand name. Constructor Finland Oy, the manufacturer of the products, has been in business since 1886, i.e. for more than 130 years. The factory is located in Lohja. In 2018, the brand became part of the Gonvarri Material Handling Group, which includes several other top brands in the industry, such as Constructor, Dexion and Kredit. Gonvarri has years of experience in manufacturing and steel expertise and is one of Europe's leading designers and manufacturers of storage solutions.
